Three stories
Each month, I examine three headline-making stories from business, leadership, technology, culture or society.

Three headlines. Three communication perspectives. One bigger picture.
What does a corporate crisis reveal about trust? Why do some leaders communicate difficult decisions better than others? And what can an unexpected cultural moment teach us about reputation, influence or stakeholder relationships?
There’s often more to a headline than the story being reported.
Between the Lines (BTL) is a monthly newsletter that explores the communication decisions behind the stories making news. The thoughtful ones. The questionable ones. And the ones that make us go: “what on earth were they thinking?!?”

The most interesting part of the story is often what isn’t said.
Each month, I examine three headline-making stories from business, leadership, technology, culture or society.
You’ll get a strategic communication lens on what happened, why it matters and what it reveals about the decisions, relationships and dynamics at play.
The goal isn’t to summarize the news. It’s to look beyond the obvious, connect the dots and explore what we might learn from it all.
I’m the founder of The Ideas Collective, where I work with leaders and organizations at the intersection of marketing, communication and business strategy. For more than 20 years, I’ve advised organizations through complex challenges, transformations and moments when the stakes are high.
I’ve long been fascinated by the role communication plays in shaping decisions, relationships and outcomes; not just the big announcements or carefully crafted messages, but the assumptions, choices and stakeholder dynamics behind them.
I’m also a researcher, which means I’m professionally inclined to ask why — and occasionally keep asking long after everyone else has moved on.
Between the Lines is where I bring those interests together. I hope you’ll join me.
Good communication deserves attention.
So do the missteps.
